FireWise Your Home

We have all seen pictures of neighborhoods where some homes burn and others survive. Here is information to help make your home be among the survivors.

It is easy to feel helpless when contemplating a wildfire because we have seen videos of communities being consumed by a huge wall of flame. But decades of research has shown that eighty percent of losses from wildfire are caused by embers, and protecting your home from embers is something you can easily do.

Watch this brief 13-minute video to learn about how your home can survive in a wildfire. Next, click on the links to brochures about specific actions you can take to make your home FireWise.

As you complete FireWise work on your home, scroll to the bottom of this page and send us a note to keep your HOA up to date on community progress.

Report Your FireWise Work

To remain a FireWise community Catalina Del Sol is required to report a community total of $2,500 or more worth of work annually by its residents on FireWise projects. This can include cleaning gutters, removing debris, fire-resistant home improvements, and landscaping to remove vegetative hazards (weeds, grass, overgrowth, trimming trees and brush).

Please use the form below to let us know how many hours and how many dollars you have spent on projects at your home. Break out the work gloves and put on your sun hat – let’s get to work!

Here is a worksheet showing the type of work and reporting we would like to hear about.
